Air Conditioning Maintenance
How to tell whether your air conditioning needs maintenance
Unusual Odours also coming from your air conditioning is also a sign your air conditioner needs professional cleaning due to an accumulation of dust and debris or even mould due to moisture buildup from obstructed condensation drainage.
Reduced Cooling Efficiency usually indicates your air conditioner has a performance issue which may be linked to a mechanical problem or occasionally reduced refrigerant levels hindering airflow.
Strange Noises coming from your air conditioning units are very likely to indicate a more serious internal problem which should be addressed as soon as possible for both safety reasons and to reduce further damage that could end up being irreversible if ignored.
Dirty Filters which not only impact air quality but dirt and debris will also mean airflow is obstructed and negatively influence the performance of your air conditioning, resulting in higher electricity use which will be reflected in your energy bills.

The benefits of Maintaining your Air Conditioner
Prevent expensive repairs
Keep your running costs low
Whilst something simple such as clogged filters and dust accumulation seem like relatively minor issues, these small issues collectively put additional strain on the operating functions of your air conditioning. This creates additional wear and tear as your system has to work that much harder to achieve the desired temperature and worse still, it will impact energy consumption by using more electricity too!

Air Conditioning Maintenance FAQs
Do air conditioners really need maintenance?
Even in the UK a professional AC maintenance should be completed at least once a year and it’s essential if you want to make the most of your air conditioning in terms of keeping running costs down, maximising its lifespan and for health and safety reasons.
When it comes to the specifics of maintenance frequency, the benefits and whether it is mandatory to arrange maintenance for your AC, read on to find out more.
Are repairs included with maintenance?
AC repairs are not included with a maintenance visit, servicing may sometimes refer to repairs but they are not part of a standard service for maintenance.
Who is responsible for air conditioning maintenance?
As a homeowner you are directly responsible for the maintenance of your air conditioning system, whilst if you are a tenant it will be the responsibility of the building owner/manager.
Is air conditioning maintenance and an air conditioning service the same thing?
When referring to air conditioning, routine maintenance and a service generally mean the same thing, although servicing can sometimes get confused with repair visits which are not the same.
Why is water leaking from my air conditioner?
Water leaking from your air conditioner is usually caused by dust and dirt accumulation either in the filters or condensate drain of your air conditioner. This will usually be due to requiring a professional clean as part of annual maintenance, although it can be a symptom of a more serious issue and should be investigated properly by a qualified AC engineer.
Is maintenance for car air conditioning the same as air conditioning for buildings?
Whilst air conditioning for cars operates on the same principles as regular AC for buildings, it is not exactly the same as they operate via the vehicle engine and will require a car mechanic instead of an air conditioning engineer to address any faults or maintenance. Car AC systems also use a completely different type of air conditioning refrigerant (usually R-134A or R-1234YF) to air conditioning systems used in buildings (usually R-32 or R-410a for older systems) and they are not interchangeable.
